7 Easy Website Maintenance Tips

Maintaining your website and keeping it fresh and up to date can be done in seven easy steps. This will free up your time for other facets of your business, such as marketing and promotions. They are easy, cheap, and not at all time consuming.

1. Create an image sub-folder. This will allow you to have quick access to all of your images. Searching for a specific image can take a while; save some time by creating a one-stop folder for all your images.

2. Set up your pages to expand vertically. This is especially important for pages that you intend to update frequently and contain a lot of information. This will allow you to add new content without disrupting the natural flow of the page.

3. Make a template for new pages. You should create a template that has all of the items that are present on all your pages, such as your logo, a menu and a header. When you start a new page, you can begin creating the new content without having to refer to other pages to maintain consistency.

4. Use specific dates with references. If, for example, you are referring to something that happened last month, use the specific date, like “On 10 February–” and avoid phrases like “last month” or “two weeks ago”. This will save you time, since you don’t have to go back and update the number of months, or weeks.

5. Copy your updates. Make a back-up every time you update your pages. This will save you time in case of unforeseen problems.

6. Keep your image sizes consistent. If your pages have a lot of pictures, use the same size for your newest image addition.

7. Use consistent fonts and colours. Choose a font and colour scheme and stick with it. Avoiding a lot of bold and italics is also recommended. These can be very distracting for the reader.

Funny thing, I was talking with my brother the other evening and he feels that in the economic slowdown lots of businesses are turning towards team building activity london to hearten the staff. I am confused how I feel about this, I mean it’s a nice thought but it is never going to encourage people as much as a nice big bonus is it?
