Yahoo has recently been sued for disclosing personal and confidential information to Chinese authorities that led to the arrest, torture and indictment of a democracy promoter expressing his political views through mail and blog postings. The company was even explicitly referred to in the content of the Chinese court verdict that the declared Wang Xiaoning guilty of "incitement to subvert state power" along with a decade imprisonment for doing such acts.

 

Yahoo, on their Privacy Policy Page states that:

Yahoo! Does not rent, sell, or share personal information about you with other people or non-affiliated companies except to provide products or services you've requested, when we have your permission

 

Needless to say, Yahoo has violated their own Privacy Policy and violated the trust of their faithful and trusting members. People are now asking: “How safe is my private information with Yahoo?”
